A Hughes Man Arrested for Cutting a Woman

A Hughes man was arrested for cutting a woman after an altercation where he sliced the woman across the face.  Mario Burks, 42-years-old of Hughes, Arkansas. was arrested and booked into the St. Francis County Detention Center and is charged with Battery 1st Degree a Class Y Felony.  The victim of Hughes, Ar. reported to authorities that on or about October 21, 2023, during the early morning she was outside when Burks came up to her and a verbal altercation occurred between the two. The victim reported that Burks then came up behind her and grabbed her hair and cut her across the face with something sharp possibly a knife or a box cutter and then fled on foot.  The victim was transported to Regional One Trauma in Memphis, Tn. for her injuries.  The victim suffered a large gash to her left eye which almost exposed her eyeball.  The victim also suffered minor lacerations to her face and neck as a result of the assault. Burks is scheduled for arraignment today where a bond will be set in this case.
