Police Investigating a Shooting Over the Weekend

02/12/2024

During the early morning hours of February 10, 2024, deputies responded to a report of someone shooting at a residence on County Road 215.  Deputies arrived at the residence and spoke with Theotis McKnight, the caller who told officers that earlier he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument while at Grobmyer Circle and he and her left and went back home.  Shortly afterwards of arriving home his girlfriend daughter showed up at the residence and another argument ensued, where McKnight asked them to leave.  While McKnight was trying to get them to leave a tan colored Surburban drove past and fired several times at the residence, luckily not hitting anyone.  At that time the individuals then left the residence.  During the investigation it was determined that the residence was struck at least once where the bullet entered the residence hitting a television.  Several shell casings were recovered at the scene. Investigators were able to identify the owner of the tan Suburban and a search warrant was executed at an apartment in Grobmyer Circle in Forrest City.  Investigators recovered a 9mm handgun, believed to be the firearm used in the shooting along with ammunition.  Investigators also arrested Shakendra Lashay Britt who lived at the apartment, who had a warrant with the Forrest City Police Department for Theft by Receiving a felony.  The firearm and casings will be submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for ballistics comparison and the investigation is still on-going.
